Use of pH Meter
- Remove electrode from storage buffer
- Remove grey rubber plug from top of electrode
- CAREFULLY remove orange guard from bottom of
electrode
- CAREFULLY rinse shaft and tip of electrode with ddH2O
from squeeze bottle
- CAREFULLY dry shaft of electrode with a Kimwipe
- CAREFULLY dry the tip of the electrode by touching
with a kimwipe and letting it absorb the water (the glass bulbs at the tip are very
fragile and the electrode is very EXPENSIVE)
Calibration: Choose two standards to
calibrate, One below and one above the desired pH of your solution.
- swirl the lower pH standard jar and submerge the tip in the
buffer. AVOID TOUCHING THE BOTTOM OF THE JAR!!!
- Press the "cal" button. There will be a 1 in the bottom right
corner of the digital display.
- Press "read". The display will read the pH of the standard
youve used, ex. 7.00
- Repeat steps 4-6 above.
- repeat steps 1-3 of calibration section with the higher pH
standard.
Measuring pH:
Clean and dry electrode and submerge in sample to be tested.
Press "read". Display shows pH.
When youre done:
- Clean and dry electrode
- replace grey rubber plug and orange guard
- submerge electrode in storage buffer
- turn meter off
- Clean and dry area, and throw away Kimwipes and paper towels.
